Souls and Experience

From a more empirical stand point, we the system, called our bodies are basically made of the same structures, but with infinite amount of possible variations that are found within the genome/nurture interaction. This interaction is the framework of our beings, as well as the canvas upon which our assumptive realities are painted on. The surface that is textured just enough so the little rifts in the paper will soak up the full amount of pigment and become richly colored. Otherwise only the surface would be touched and therefore the true essence of color would not be enhanced.

The richness of color isn't always what you expect. Sometimes it hits the occipital nerve so hard on the rays of light, that it overwhelms the neurons. It is in this moment where you've truly found your medium. Or the mechanism in which you apply the circumstances handed you. There is no turning back-only as we look forward to the joy of the process- taking what's in our environment and creating something much larger than self.

It is at this precise moment that all of the colors of the spectrum converge and right there before your eyes is the impossible creation... the one that has all of the shades of pain and disappointment, which offers contrast to the new day dawning in strokes of rich color, soaked into the texture of the paper that is experience.

Embedded in that experience is an opportunity to see beyond the now, into the realm of unseen energy that comes from deep within. In a smile that is often hard fought for-it is in these sacred moments that I have been given a life changing gift ... to share a moment when a person who is lost within, finds themselves. This gift transcends what is not and brings what truly is- a smile, from a worn soul is who is loosing so much, but is also giving so much to a person who is not lost with in, but is lost from without... trying to find her way.

This experience has brought to light, the unseen colors of the human condition; when instead of seeing someones disabilities you are able to see who the person truly is. Though Alzheimer's may be attacking the physical there is still an unspeakable presence of the person beyond the confines of the body.

This is when I knew that I would be working with people and their families who have Alzheimer's and related Dementia.
